Annie Mae Ministries (AMM) is commited to providing professionalism, education, and entertainment to those that are incarcerated through music.

Our story…

A group of believers and like minded musicians, songwriters and entrepreneurs who have a passion to bring the broken and the incarcerated HOPE through songwriting, poetry and music.

With a strong desire to create a positive platform, behind bars, and/or on unconventional stages, our team has established a foundation and an educational experience to teach the broken how to use lyrics and words for survival. Our curriculum is the CORE aspect of our development but our testimonies of faith and storytelling through songs will be the foundation of our ministry. Our mission to Bring People Hope through Songwriting and Music is our reason, but we have many opportunities to reach the broken, the weak and less fortunate through other charities and non-profit affiliations in disaster relief, recovery, and before and after care from incarceration.  Our team consists of both experienced educators, songwriters, musicians, publishers and entrepreneurs across the country.

Founded by our President, Amanda Pruitt and Vice President Mark McBride after a conversation at a songwriters round about McBride’s grandmother, Annie Mae, who worked in prison ministry most of her life McBride told the story of Annie Mae visiting James Brown in prison and how she changed many lives behind bars and he wanted a way to pass on her legacy.

Pruitt, holds a Bachelors of Science in Journalism and Performing Arts from Texas A&M-Commerce, is a successful independent, national, touring artist and an organic storyteller. She has been independently visiting prisons throughout her career and felt deeply about that being her true calling. The ministry is inspired by her brothers behind bars most of their adult life, finding purpose in music and a teddy bear given to her at 12-years-old, named Annie Mae."I just ran faster," she jokes. "We all have probably belonged behind bars at some time, we just didn't get caught." Bringing people Hope through Music has been her mission in music since the beginning of her career; Annie Mae is actually making that mission come true.

Through stories of hardship, abandonment, addiction, abuse and survival in songs, poetry and testimony, Annie Mae can help save lives. We want to encourage the broken to use their words for good and production. We also partner with other non-profits to help aid in relief efforts, feed volunteers, and always pursue the “underdog”. Being a ministry is of course always Christ based, but everything we do is geared by faith and hope.

We offer a one, two and three day curriculum to choose from. We will provide booklets, brochures, links and an educational experience that will change people's lives. We also want to produce and record the work from the events to help raise money for their families while they are incarcerated.

Annie Mae is a foundation of hope, love, passion and desire to help people survive with their thoughts, words and imagination. When we help them put this to music, who knows what will happen.

 Each Day is 3 hours long. 

Intro:  Introduce Songwriters/ Instructors  

1.  Overview of Song Structure 

      A. Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Etc.

      B.  Importance of Lyric, Melody, Harmony

      C. Exploring different genres and styles

2.  Lyric Writing                                               

      A. Developing Ideas and Inspiration.  

      B. Writing effective Lyrics. (imagery, metaphor,

           storytelling)                              

      C. Understanding Rhyme, Meter, Flow

3.  Melody Instructors will have instruments to help with     

      melodies and styles, experimenting with different

      melodic styles.

4.  Song Structure                                         

     A. Verse, Chorus, Verse,  Chorus, Bridge, Chorus. ( A B C

          D)             

5.  Variations and Alternatives, pre-chorus, interlude, and 

      understanding song length and pacing 

6.  Co-writing and collaboration (working with others). 

7.  Recording , 

     A. Explanation of Recording Process

     B. Laying Down Tracks for Demo’s 

     C. Record Ideas

The more days enrolled, the more in depth instruction in songwriting which produces more songs.
